Newpark Resources, Inc. takes first step into Canadian Oilfield Services market by setting up Newpark Canada Inc. and acquiring Protec Mud Service of Calgary. Newpark Resources has been a player in the US market for over 40 years and services the Drilling Fluids, Environmental Disposal of Drilling Waste, and Drilling Location Mat markets. |

Newpark Canada sets up its mat division, International Mat of Canada, and starts to receive its first shipments of hardwood mats from the US. |
May 98 |
Newpark Canada acquires its second Drilling Fluids service company by acquiring Optimum Fluids Inc. |
Aug 98 |
Newpark Canada gains entry into the Canadian environmental market by purchasing ProActa Environmental Services Inc of Calgary. At this time Newpark Resources has successfully completed its entry into the Canadian market place by being able to offer the their full slate of services. |
